Youths Beat Lawmaker To Coma In Minna

Aggrieved youths in Bosso and Paiko federal constituencies of Niger state beat Salihu Adamu, the representative of the constituency in the House of Representatives, into coma.

It was gathered that the federal lawmaker was initially rushed to a private hospital and was later transferred to another hospital in Kaduna for further treatment.

The politician was accused of not attending political meetings since he was elected about two years ago.

Adamu had driven into one of the villages in his constituency for a political meeting when he was attacked.

A source told PUNCH that the youths told the lawmaker to leave the venue of the meeting, saying they would attack him if he refuses to leave.

When contacted, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident, saying it was a politically motivated attack, adding that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The police spokesman also confirmed that the legislator was admitted to a private hospital in Minna before being moved to Kaduna.
