The Lagos state government has reassigned the erstwhile PSP operators from domestic waste collection to commercial waste collection.

The PSPs, now known as Waste Collection Operators (WCOs), are billed to officially commence evacuation of commercial waste today, Thursday, 1st March 2018.

This was disclosed by the commissioner for the environment, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, at Alausa.

He said the reassignment is part of the government’s efforts to combat the challenges being experienced in the management of waste in the state as quickly as possible.

According to him, the administration has licensed over 300 WCOs to evacuate waste from commercial premises having met all the requirements for re-certification and subsequent licensing.

He revealed that re-certified but yet-to-be licensed operators have till 7th March 2018 to complete the requirements and obtain operating licenses to engage in commercial waste evacuation operations in Lagos state.
