The River state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is unfortunate that there are calls for the resignation or sack of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

The APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers, Chris Finebone stated this in reaction to calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Amaechi to resign.

Spokesman of the PDP in Rivers state, Samuel Nwanosike had at a media briefing alleged that Amaechi needs to be removed for alleged incompetence.

Meanwhile, Finebone in a statement said, “Well, the APC would not want believe that Samuel Nwanosike, the PDP Publicity Secretary is calling for the resignation of the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi on account of non-performance.

“If he truly did then he has started skipping his medication again.

“The truth is that Nigerians know and easily attest that Amaechi as Minister of Transportation is performing excellently.

“The PDP know this except Samuel Nwanosike and it’s indeed a pity.”

For his part, a chieftain of the APC in the state, Lawrence Chuku said the “PDP are obsessed with Amaechi’s progress. They have tried everything and have failed yet they won’t relent.

“Rather than go beyond commissioning petty projects like one-kilometre roads and markets, Wike has decided to keep himself sick with Amaechi.”
