The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said continued dialogue between it and its host communities has made port operations at the Onne Port successful.

According to the Manager of the Onne Ports Alhassan Abubakar, the move had created mutual trust in the hearts of the stakeholders.

Abubakar spoke at a media get-together by the Nigerian Ports Authority, Onne, as part of its end of the year activities.

“There had been challenges in the course of my administration; there had been threats from community youths to block the port from operation, but we always work with the people, security agencies to avert hitches,” he said.

“That is one thing that we do that is working for us and also giving the communities confidence that we are here to listen to them and to partake in their problems.

“So, when they have issues, they rather inform us either by writing or by phone calls and we immediately consultant the parties involved and try to meet their demands.”
