Kogi Assembly Impeaches Deputy Governor Achuba

The Kogi state House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor of the state, Simon Achuba.

Achuba’s impeachment followed the submission of a report of a committee set up by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana, to investigate an allegation of gross misconduct against him.

It was learned that a seven-man committee headed by John Bayeshea submitted the report to the Speaker of the House, Mathew Kolawole, before Achuba was impeached. Read more here.

Kogi: What Simon Achuba Said About His Impeachment

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has condemned the state House of Assembly over his impeachment.

APC Appoints El-Rufai, Badaru Head Campaign Councils For Kogi, Bayelsa

Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa State and his Kaduna counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai, have been appointed as the head of the APC National Campaign Council for Kogi and Bayelsa States.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, inaugurated the committee on Friday in Abuja.

Governor Badaru was appointed to head the 56-member committee for the Bayelsa election, while El-Rufai heads the 56-member committee for Kogi poll. Read more here.

Kogi: Gov. Bello Chooses Onoja To Replace Achuba As His Deputy

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has chosen his immediate Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, to replace Simon Achuba as the new Deputy Governor of state.

According to NAN, Onoja was sworn in on Saturday as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

This development is coming a few days after Onoja resigned as the governor’s Chief of Staff and Achuba’s subsequent impeachment by the state House of Assembly on Friday. Read more here.

Kogi Election: PDP Fingers APC In ‘Attack On Wada’s Convoy’

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, north-central Nigeria, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring an attack on its governorship candidate for the November 16 election, Musa Wada.

One Yusuf Seidu Uhiene has been reportedly killed when some thugs suspected to be APC supporters allegedly ambushed the convoy Wada on Saturday evening.

The party said that Wada was on his way to attend a meeting at Anyigba, Dekina area of the Confluence state, when his convoy was reportedly attacked. Read more here.
