Lagos to Transform Ijora Under Bridge Into Recreational Space

The Lagos State Government is planning to transform the Ijora under bridge into a recreational space.

This followed the demolition of illegal structures and the dislodging of squatters who had taken over the location.

According to the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media, Jibril Gawat, effort to transform the location is being undertaken by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.

He shared on X, “Today, I went to check the Ijora under bridge to see the level of work that the Ministry of Environment and the Special environmental Task Force headed by ACP Bayo Sulaiman are doing.

“The team has successfully removed a lot of illegal structures under the bridge and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has started the removal of the debris, with a lot more total cleanup to be done.

“I saw some people there waiting and still hoping that this is just a one-off and the State Government might not do anything again after.

“The Hon. Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources @tokunbo_wahab, together with some of his colleagues are working on turning the whole place to a recreational space.”
