Amokachi Tips Eagles To Reach 2018 W/Cup Final
Former Super Eagles forward Daniel ”the bull” Amokachi has tipped the team to reach the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
No African side have ever got to the semi-finals of the competition.
Nigeria’s best outing is second-round finish, which they have achieved in three editions (1994, 1998 and 2014).
But Amokachi, who was part of the squad to the 1994 tournament, said with the current level of performance, the team was primed to excel in Russia.
“Despite the fact that I have not been in Nigeria for sometime now, I must tell you that I am a big fan of the Super Eagles and I am impressed with their performances in recent times,” Amokachi told Complete Sports.
“From what I have seen so far in the Super Eagles, I have that confidence that they will go beyond the first round and even play in the final because the players are young and they have the talent to excel at the World Cup.
“The coach has also done a wonderful job and he deserves our support.”
Super Eagles, three-time African champions, will play in Group D of the competition billed for June.
