The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal Thursday fixed August 19 for adoption of final address after concluding the defence of the consolidated petition by Natasha Akpoti of SDP and Ahmed Ogembe of PDP against Yakubu Oseni of APC.

Concise News understands that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC’s Oseni as winner of the Kogi Central senatorial election in February.

But Akpoti, who finished second and Ogembe, the immediate past representative of the area at the Senate, are challenging the outcome of the election.

Led by Justice O.A. Chijioke, the three-man bench, Concise News learned, fixed the date after Oseni presented his remaining witnesses in defence of the petition EPT/KG/SEN/08/2019 by Ogembe.

Oseni had earlier presented his witnesses in defence of the petition EPT/KG/SEN/02/2019 by Akpoti where his principal witness, Salisu Aliyu, an ICT expert working for INEC, admitted that the card reader reports he presented did not tally with the figures of the accredited voters in the voters register upon cross examination by the Counsel to Akpoti.
