Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) was on Saturday attacked by angry youths during 2017 Kabba Day celebration.
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, who was said to have arrived Kabba for the occasion, left the area for fear of being attacked by the angry youths.
Trouble was said to have started when the lawmaker joined other dignitaries for the celebrations.
Melaye’s supporters hailed him as he entered Kabba Township Stadium, venue of the event, but the tide changed when he was about leaving the venue after delivering his goodwill message.
The angry youths attacked him. The mob followed him outside the stadium, stoning his cars which were hurriedly driven away from the venue.
The mob claimed he was not representing the zone well in the National Assembly, but busy fighting leaders who are helping them at home.
The Senator escaped unhurt but the windscreens of a vehicle in his convoy were smashed by the youths.
