FA Cup: Wolves Upset Liverpool

By Andah John

Liverpool are out of the English FA Cup after surprisingly going down 2-1 to lower league side Wolverhampton Wonderers in the fourth round at Anfield.

Richard Stearman put the visitors ahead with only 53 seconds played when he headed home Helder Costa’s free-kick.

Costa was the man again who delivered the pass that met Andreas Weimann who gladly rounded Liverpool keeper Loris Karius and doubled his side’s advantage.

No way back for Liverpool

Divock Origi then pulled one back for the Reds late on to set up a frantic end but Liverpool remained the second best to end the game behind.

With this result, Jurgen Klopp’s side have suffered two losses in cup competition in four days after they lost to Southampton in the EFL Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the win is Wolves’ second consecutive victory over Premier League opposition in the FA Cup. And it ensured a fifth-round place for the first time since 2008.
