Walking In Uncommon Grace By Pastor Korede Olusanya

By Pst Korede Olusanya

What is grace? In the New Testament, grace means God’s love in action towards men who merited the opposite of love.

Grace means unmerited favour. Grace is divine take over. Grace is divine leverage.

However, uncommon grace will not just jump on our laps because we are christians. If we are going to walk in uncommon grace, there are things we need to know and do:

1. Become a person of uncommon knowledge
2 Peter vs 2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

Uncommon grace will only answer to uncommon pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge enhances grace. (A cook that knows how to cook and is a believer will exhibit uncommon grace than a believer that doesn’t know how to cook and is praying for uncommon grace.

Grace and knowledge are like Siamese twins. Uncommon grace answers to people who know.

Knowledge increases your confidence which allows the uncommon grace of God to find expression.

Knowledge is not cheap and, as such, confers uncommon grace on whoever will pay the price to acquire it.

Toying with acquisition of relevant information will render pursuit of uncommon grace unachievable. Knowledge makes grace work seamlessly. Knowledge makes grace effective and effectual

Therefore working in uncommon grace is a call to pursue uncommon knowledge.

2. Become a person of uncommon diligence:
1 Corinthians 15 vs 10: But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Walking in uncommon grace will require uncommon diligence. Diligence is not alien to grace.

In fact, lack of uncommon diligence will frustrate the grace of God on your life.

Laziness and slothfulness diminishes the power of Grace. Diligence gives expression to grace. Working hard and working smart does not make you less spiritual. That you are spiritual doesn’t negate the principle of diligence.

3. Be committed to God and kingdom matters:
Matthew 6 vs33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

One of the purposes of uncommon grace is to enable and empower you to be committed to God and his Kingdom. Walking in uncommon grace will demand your unflinching commitment to God.

As you stay committed to God and His kingdom, the uncommon grace on your life will keep increasing.

Please know that God’s grace is not for decoration, it is for service. You can’t walk in uncommon grace if you are not committed to God and His cause. Uncommon grace will find expression in your life as you serve in Church, win lost souls etc.

Grace diminishes as your commitment to God’s kingdom diminishes.

4 . Uncommon Grace demands high level of spirituality:
John 15 vs 1-4: I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Walking in uncommon grace will demand uncommon spirituality. Grace comes from God who is essentially a spirit being.

You relate with God with your spirit as was written in the book of John 4 vs 23 – 24:

23. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Walking in uncommon grace demands that you pay attention to your spiritual life. Praying and studying of God’s word should become important in our lives. The place of prayer is a place of grace. The people of prayer are people of grace. When you go into the place of prayers, you come out with grace.

Don’t joke with your study of the word. People of the word are people of Revelation. Revelation will birth uncommon grace.

Grace will be hindered when we don’t pay attention to our spiritual life. Fast as often as you can to empower your spirit. Your neglect of your spiritual life can diminish the power of grace in your life. Our taste for sin must die. We must hate sin. Our love for righteousness must increase.

5. Be Humble:
James: 4. 6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

God resists the proud person. Pride is a destroyer of destiny. Whatever it is that God has blessed you with – spiritually, materially etc; stay humble in your own eyes. There is nothing that you have that you have not received from God. Pride takes your eyes away from God and focusing only on yourself and how to have your way at all times – God’s grace cannot find expression in such a person.
