Uruguay Defeat Unfair, Says Portugal Coach

Edinson Cavani scores for the South Americans against Portugal at the 2018 World Cup

Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has described his team’s 2-1 defeat to Uruguay in their second round clash at the 2018 Fifa World Cup on Saturday as “not a fair result.”

Edison Cavani bagged a brace with Pepe netting the lone goal for the European champions as they crashed out of the competition.

Speaking after the game, Santos said, “It is not a fair result. The first time Uruguay had a chance they scored.

”In the second half we were more dominant, we got the equalizer, which was the most difficult thing to do but football is like that. It wasn’t to be and I’m very disappointed.”
