Twitter Salutes Amuneke On Historic Feat With Tanzania
After guiding The Taifa Stars to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals for the first time since 1980, Twitter has been flooded with praise for former Super Eagles star and one-time African Footballer of the Year, Emmanuel Amuneke.
Concise News reports that Amuneke, Head Coach of the Tanzanian Senior National Team guided the East African country to the continent’s top football party after they beat rivals Uganda 3-0 in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
Uganda went into the derby in Tanzania having not conceded a single goal during their entire 2019 Nations Cup qualifying campaign.
The record ended emphatically in Dar es Salaam in their sixth and final group fixture with Simon Msuva beating Denis Onyango in Uganda’s goal in the 21st minute.
Experienced Erasto Nyoni added a second after the break with Aggrey Morris making it 3-0 to Tanzania on a memorable day for the hosts.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, it was still a nervous end to the match as Tanzania’s fans and players anxiously monitored news from Praia where – if Lesotho had won – their dream of qualifying would have ended.
Below are some of the reactions to Amuneke‘s achievement:
All of a sudden, Tanzania is my adopted country
Go Amunike!

Kudos to Naija’s Emmanuel Amunike who has qualified Tanzania to their first #AFCON tournament since 1980. I love his philosophy on how #football should be played which has worked wonders for the East African country.

Stephen Keshi led Togo to their first-ever World Cup tournament but left before the tournament. Emmanuel Amunike has done something remarkable for Tanzania. I hope he stays and do well at the tournament. God not go let us work for another person to chop.#NaijaNoDeyCarryLast https://t.co/nqQO9AcQDq

I bet Amunike’s Tanzania don’t have 1/3 of the talents available to Rohr, but Amunike knuckled down and made the most of the players he has. Rohr should quit talking and get the best out of this team. #betwaysquad
