NPA Investigates Calabar Fire Incident

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has condoled with Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River and the families of victims of the fire incident at Linc Oil and Gas Tank Farm.

The incident happened at the famous Calabar Free Trade Zone on Sunday.

The Principal Manager of NPA Ibrahim Nasiru stated this in Lagos on Tuesday.

Nasiru said NPA had started investigation into the sad event with the stakeholders to prevent recurrence of such event.

”As part of the measures to forestall future occurrence, the authority has been in touch with the Cross River State Government on the safety of Esuk-Utan Beach residences in the middle of an industrial area.

”We want to reiterate our commitment to the safety of all customers, operators and agencies within our facilities, nationwide.

”Management also commend the courageous efforts of NPA and Calabar Free Trade Zone firemen, who put their lives on the line to prevent the spread of the inferno.

”This is in addition to the deployment of our Tug Boat ”MV Zaria” that provided support from the waterfront.

”The NPA wishes people who sustained injuries from the incident speedy recovery and pray for the repose of the souls of the dead,” he said.
