Nigeria Military Says DSS Negotiated #Dapchigirls Release

DSS
The country’s Defence Headquarters said that the military was not involved in the negotiation

The Department of State Services (DSS) led the negotiations for the release of 104 Dapchi girls, out of the 110 abducted by Boko Haram, the Nigerian military has said.

The girls, who were abducted from their secondary school in Dapchi, Yobe state, on 19 February, were let go by the terror group on Wednesday.

The Nigerian government had said its officials negotiated with the girls’ abductors.

But the country’s Defence Headquarters said that the military was not involved in the talks.

“The girls were released through negotiations led by the Department of State Services (DSS),” a spokesman of the Defence Brig. Gen John Agim said.
