The Federal Government says the position of the US over the declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group is unfortunate.

Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, stated this on Wednesday in London when he featured on BBC Television programme, ”Focus on Africa”.

IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu, has been agitating for secession, which led to the banning of the group’s activities by the governors in Nigeria’s Southeast sub-region.

It was subsequently named a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian Government.

The US, through her embassy in Nigeria, countered the government’, saying that activities of the pro-Biafran group does not deem it a terrorist group.

Mohammed stressed that the government was right in declaring IPOB a terrorist organisation.

”It is very unfortunate, if countries decide to pick and choose which organisations are terrorists and which are not, bearing in mind that terrorism has no boundary.

”I think what we should do is that every country should work together to ensure that terrorism does not thrive,” he said.
