Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Speaks On Nigeria’s Democracy, Election

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said that dividends of democracy will continue to elude Nigeria as long as it continues to operate with the 1999 constitution.

The secessionist group leader said democracy cannot be achieved in Nigeria through the ballot.

Kanu, who disappeared from the country for over one year following the military invasion of his home before reappearing in Isreal has since returned to the United Kingdom.

Since his reappearance, he has been calling for the boycott of the 2019 election by the Igbos, fixing a referendum for Biafra on the day of presidential election.

Backlash has however continued to trail his continued call for election boycott from Nigerians, especially from the Eastern part.

The Abia-born made is leading the secessionist group and has repeatedly said on Radio Biafra that the only condition for members of the group to vote is if the federal government yields to their request.

The group he leads, IPOB, has since been proscribed by the Nigerian Government after it was declared a terrorist group.

Kanu tweeted on Friday saying: “As long as Nigeria remain yoked to the 1999 Constitution written by half-baked Fulani military dictators, the benefits of Democracy can never be attained through the ballot box. This is an inescapable fact which even the most intellectually impoverished Nigerian cannot deny.”
