Iconic Indian Classical Music Legend Dies At 84

Legendary Indian classical vocalists, Kishori Amonkar, was reported to have died on Monday the 3rd of April at her residence in central Mumbai the country’s capital.

The beautiful and talented vocalist who had her own customized style of music, died at the age of 84.

According to domestic media, her student, Gandhar Bedekar, said that the music icon had died in her sleep on Monday.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, described her death as an “Irreparable loss” to the country’s entertainment industry.

The deceased was recognized as one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani traditional school of singing, and she also clinched an acclaim award for creating her own unique style of music.

In her lifetime, she received India’s top civilian honour , Padma Bhushan, in 1987, and Padma Vibhushan in 2002.

Several entertainers in India have dropped their tribute to the Icon in Mumbai after the news of her death surfaced.

Legendary Bollywood singer, Lata Mangeshkar said that “She was a unique and extraordinary classical singer.

Her demise spells a huge loss for the world of music,” she added.

Amonkar will be buried according to the hindi rites on Tuesday evening.
