Nigerians React As Police Kill Lady, Injure Boyfriend In Ajegunle
Nigerians have reacted to the alleged killing of a 20-year-old lady identified as Ada Ifeanyi, and the injuring of Emmanuel Akomafuwa suspected to be her boyfriend by Police operatives from the Trinity Police Station, Ajegunle, Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the incident happened on Saturday morning at about 7am.
The Command also identified the killer policemen as: Inspector Adamu Usman, Sergeant Adeyeye Adeoye, Sergeant Kashim Tijani, Sergeant Lucky Akigbe, Sergeant Paul Adeoye, and inspector Dania Ojo.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, announced the arrest of five Police officers and declared Inspector Ojo wanted.
Elkana said the officers were already facing internal disciplinary actions at the Command’s headquarters, adding that if found wanting, they would be prosecuted in conventional court for murder.
However, reacting to the alleged killings on Twitter, some Nigerians demanded that the officers be convicted, while others demanded justice for the victim.
Others said it is not enough to arrest the officers responsible for the killings in Ajegunle, adding that something has to be done quickly to avoid a looming war between the youths in that area and the Police.
