Supreme Court to Hear Atiku s Appeal Against Tinubu

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced Monday October 23, 2023, as the date to hear the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the February presidential election, former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

The case was filed against the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) which upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the polls.

In a terse statement ahead of the hearing, the PDP said, “We strongly believe that the court will do Justice to the appeal before them.”

Concise News recalls that Atiku and Tinubu have been engaged in legal battles concerning the President’s academic records.

Atiku recently approached a US court an obtained an order that compelled Chicago State University to release Tinubu’s academic records.

The former vice president now alleges discrepancies in the records obtained, leading to speculations of certificate forgery.

In his appeal at the Supreme Court, Atiku asked the apex court not to consider technicalities when hearing his case, especially concerning Tinubu’s academic records.
