Southern Kaduna Peoples Union has called for restructuring that would enable the southern part of Kaduna state join the North Central sub-region as a state in Nigeria.

In a meeting held in Kafanchan, the group said it was in support of the call by Middle-belt elders for the establishment of more regions in the country.

According to the group, restructuring the country is the only way to amend the errors created by the colonial masters in 1914 when the amalgamation of Nigeria took place.

Redesigning Nigeria

It, however, warned that Nigerians should not see restructuring of the country as a way of splitting it, but a means of addressing the endless agitations.

”We want the colonial arrangement to be redesigned. We identify with the Middle belt because that is where we belong,” one Samuel Tabara said at the meeting when given his speech.

Another speaker at the meeting, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki, said the restructuring will not be perfected if it does not come with a Southern Kaduna state.

On the part of the National president of the group, Barr Solomon Musa, he insisted that Southern Kaduna deserves a state of its own, and also urged that the Southern part of the state should be made to be part of North Central instead of Northwest.
