Senate Sets Up Committee To Probe Invasion

Nigerian Senate on Tuesday set up a joint Senate and House of Representatives investigative committee to probe the invasion of Senate chamber by thugs.

After about three hours of executive session, Senate President Bukola Saraki announced members of the panel.

Saraki had last week travelled to the United States to attend IMF meeting when thugs invaded the Senate and went away with the mace, the Senate’s symbol of authority.

Police have since recovered and returned the mace.

Many senators believe the invasion was planned by the suspended senator.
