Senate President Bukola Saraki At CCT. File

Senate President Bukola Saraki has disclosed that he will appear at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today (Tuesday) against the advice of his lawyers.

Saraki in a statement on Monday said that he is convinced of his innocence on the three-count charge and confident consequently of a favourable decision at the Tribunal.

He added that his greatest interest has always been to clear his name as soon as possible and justice will be expeditiously served by the tribunal.

The CCT, in June cleared Saraki on the 18-count charge filed against him. However, in December, the court of appeal ordered the former governor of Kwara state to open his defence on counts 4, 5 and 6 of the 18-count charge.

The counts border on false declaration of assets and failure to declare his outstanding liabilities of N315, 054, 355.92 out of the loan of N380, 000, 000 he obtained from a bank.
