Real Madrid have announced the passing of José María Paz Casañé, a former president of the Electoral Board of the club who served in the position for 12 years.
The club made the announcement in a statement issued on its official website on Friday, January 15, 2020.
The statement read, “The club president and the Board of Directors are deeply saddened by the passing of José María Paz Casañé, an historical figure of madridismo who in his last period at the club was president of the Electoral Board for twelve years, between 2008 and 2020. He was also a director of Castilla for two decades, between 1972 and 1990.
“José María Paz Casañé dedicated his life, with his work and his passion, to Real Madrid. He was also linked to prominent figures in our big Real Madrid family, such as former basketball players Quique Villalobos and José Luis Llorente. He was a Real Madrid member for 81 years and was member number 8. He passed away at the age of 95.
“Real Madrid would like to send their condolences and warmest regards to his wife María Luz, his children José María, María Luz, Luis Adolfo, Raquel, Marta, Lorena and Fernando, and to all their families and loved ones.”
