President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly waded into the face-off between members of the Nigerian Senate and Hameed Ali, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service.

This was done to prevent further escalation of the conflict looming between the Senate and the Customs boss.

Legislative, Executive Relation

It was gathered from a source at the Presidency that President Buhari on Tuesday cautioned his appointees to avoid any squabble with the legislative arm of government.

”On getting wind of the impasse that has ensued between the Senate and Ali over his refusal to honour its invitation, President Muhammadu Buhari cautioned all his appointees against causing disaffection between him as the head of the executive arm of government and the National Assembly,” the source told This Day newspaper.

Buhari was said to have ordered the Customs boss to honour the Senate’s invite to prevent an escalation of the stand-off between both sides.

Customs Boss To Appear Before Senate

The source was also reported to have disclosed that the presidency told the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, that Ali would appear before the Senate.

However, the source could not confirm if the Customs boss would appear on Wednesday or not.
