The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has confirmed that the ”abducted” Yobe schoolgirls have been rescued.
Over 90 girls of a government college where on Wednesday declared missing after an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Monday.
Ahmad wrote on Twitter: “The Yobe State Government hereby informs the public that the girls at Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) whose school was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists last Monday have been rescued by the Nigerian Army.”
It was reported that the girls were reportedly rescued at Jilli-Muwarti, a border village between Gaidam in Yobe state and Borno State.
It is still unclear how many of the girls they rescued.
