More PDP Governors To Join APC Soon – Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said more governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will soon join the All Progressives Congress, APC. According to him, the APC is the party everybody wants to be in, adding that the opposition is aware of the things happening in the party. He said this during a meeting of the Contact and Strategic Committee at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Thursday. Yahaya Bello said, “You know, I have a committee that is called Mobilisation of Youths, Women and People Living with Disabilities. We have been mobilising them to join our party. As much as we are mobilising youths, women and people living with disabilities, we are equally mobilising members of other political parties, including governors. “Remember, there are others that are youthful and those that are youthful at hearts. So, we are bringing them into the party. You will see them in numbers. I told you that it is only one last governor that will be the last one to join our party and you know everybody is coming into the party because this is where things are happening and this is the party that is moving the country forward. That …

Twitter: You Have A Poor Understanding of Governance, PDP Replies APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describes the declaration by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that the by-passing of Nigeria by Twitter to cite its African Headquarters in Ghana is “a non-issue” further confirms APC and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency’s poor understanding of governance. The PDP asserts that the statement issued by the APC in a desperate bid to justify its manifest misrule and abuse of human rights shows that the APC and Buhari administration are not ready to end their policy inconsistency and the fettering of our youths through suppression of free speech, stifling of online freedom and open internet, for which Twitter shunned our nation for Ghana. This disposition by the APC and the Buhari Presidency has further strengthened the widespread view among Nigerians that this administration suppresses every vocation in which our youth demography has shown interest. Their statement also validates apprehensions in the public space that the APC deliberately worked against the citing of @Twitter headquarters in Nigeria because of their plot to forcefully regulate the use of internet in our country. A more responsive government and political party, who have the interest of the people at heart, ought to device all means possible to attract the …

APC Denies Endorsing Zonal Arrangement For 2023 Presidency

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied a list that says it has endorsed a zonal arrangement for the 2023 presidency. The list had gone viral on social media titled “APC announces zoning arrangement ahead of 2023 election year”. The list has now been disowned by the National Chairman, APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudoedehe. Akpanudoedehe dismissed the list, saying, “People who are interested in running for one office or the other can speculate. As far as I am concerned, at the last Caretaker Committee meeting we had, we did not discuss that. “That is not what we are concerned with now. What we are concerned with is data collection. How to collect data without making mistakes. “We are not going to be pressurized by sentiments and then we do the wrong thing. “Let me say that zoning is not for the Caretaker Committee alone. It has to do with the President, it has to do with other major stakeholders, it has to do with a lot of people. “I want to mute the speculation. The list is not from us ( Caretaker Committee). There is no way such a decision will be taken without consulting with the …

Opposition Disappointed At Success Of Our Congress – PDP

The National Reconciliation and Strategy Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the leadership of the party in Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, Osun and Ogun States for the successful conduct of the zonal congress in Osogbo, where officers of the party were elected in a free, fair and peaceful manner. A statement issued by the secretary of the committee, Hon. Linus Okorie, noted that the South West PDP leaders disappointed people in the opposition who have been fueling division in the party and thought that the zonal congress would end in chaos. The committee stated that the maturity, peaceful disposition, unity, devotion, good spirit of brotherliness and sportsmanship displayed at the congress deserved emulation by PDP leaders in other zones within the party. “With what happened in Osogbo, our leaders in the South West have demonstrated that the PDP can retake the South West in 2023 and that with the incompetence being displayed by the ruling party, a united and refocused PDP is a better option for the enlightened people of the South West. “While we hail all the stakeholders who have yielded to the pleas of the Reconciliation Committee to shift from their original position and made …

PDP South-West Congress, No Winner No Vanquished – Bode George

Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George, has said the South-West congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was a ‘no winner, no vanquished’. According to Bode George, in a statement, the congress was a victory for all party members who participated in it. The statement reads: “The South-West Congress held in Oshogbo has injected and infused a new mandate of hope and renewal, not only in the Peoples’ Democratic Party but also across Yorubaland. “It has affirmed our commitment to a peaceful engagement, even when we disagree among ourselves. It has shown that disputes and differences need not fester into violence and communal disruptions. “Yes, democracy is about the pitting of ideas, the grappling with conflicting views and interests. But in the end, there is always an arrival at a consensus-building, the initiation of compromise, the settlement of rifts through the pacific largeness of the ballot box. “Well, the battle has been won and lost. But there is no vanquished and there is no restrictive winner. The victory belongs to all of us. This is now the moment to mend the broken places, to reconcile and rebuild without any recourse to personal triumphalism. We are …

Fayose Finally Accepts Seyi Makinde As PDP Leader

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose has acknowledged Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the SouthWest. Both men have been fighting over the control of the party in the region. The disagreement between the duo lingered despite the efforts of the reconciliation committee headed by ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki. There was tension at the Women and Children Development Initiative Foundation (WOCDIF), Osogbo, Osun State capital, when the zonal congress kicked off on Monday. Taofeek Arapaja, a former deputy governor of Oyo, and Eddy Olafeso, the immediate zonal chairman of the party, are contesting for the chairmanship position of the zone. While Fayose is rooting for Olafeso, Makinde has pitched his tent with Arapaja. A total of 734 delegates across the region are expected to elect the next leaders of the party in the South-West. According to a breakdown of delegates given by Austin Akobundu, the PDP national organising secretary, Oyo has 171 delegates, Osun has 130, Lagos 101, Ogun 112, Ondo 114, and Ekiti has 115 delegates.
