PHOTOS: NEMA, ENSEMA Assess Fire Incident In Enugu

Consequent upon media reports and a call from Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (ENSEMA) of a disastrous fire disaster at Opi Nsukka, a joint team of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South East Zone and Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (ENSEMA) were at the scene of the incident for on-the-spot assessment to determine the degree of devastation, caused by the unfortunate incident the assessment team were received by the member representing Nsukka East in the State House of Assembly and other Community Leaders.

Thereafter the joint team visited the scene of the incident where stores, wares, residential houses were burnt beyond recognition.

Also visited were the hospital were the injured persons was taken for treatment of major burns. Our findings revealed that a petrol tanker driver lost control while trying to avoid pot holes, he skided off the road and fell at Afor Market, Opi Nsukka.

About 118 shops and 9 residential buildings were affected. One (1) person sustained major injury. The affected Persons/Traders/Community were delighted of the Federal/State Government concerns and earnestly plead for relief assistance to cushion the effect of their huge losses.
