Former Niger state Governor Babangida Aliyu has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.

The PDP chieftain made this known while speaking at the Niger East senatorial gathering of former state and national assembly members, ex-commissioners and local government chairmen.

During the meeting, the former governor called on citizens to ensure they obtain their voters’ cards ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“2019 is the year for PDP. We will return to power.

“When PDP returns to power, we will ensure people are given their rights; no Nigerlite will go to bed hungry,” he said.

Aliyu also played down the defection of party members to the APC, stressing that such members are not heavyweight.

Also speaking, the state chairman of the party, Tanko Beji, noted that the defectors would not be welcomed back to the PDP.

“When we win election next year and they want to return, we will not accept them.

“We are the party to beat next year. We will be transparent and fair in its decision-making policies,” he said.
