Ondo House of Assembly Speaker Suspended
The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele (Okitipupa 2) has been suspended by the House.
The Speaker, who ran on the platform of the PDP, was suspended during an emergency plenary session at the Assembly complex over allegations of fraud.
This is the second such suspension after the same occured March of last year. The resolution was passed by 14 lawmakers (5 from the APC and 9 from the PDP), who were less than the statutory quorum according to Olusiji Akindiose (Ondo East), in the presence of the Clerk, Bode Adeyelu and the mace.
Akindele was suspended for allegedly withdrawing N15 million from the House account without parliamentary approval, NAN reports.
Honourable Malachi Coker (Ilaje 2) has been sworn in as the acting Speaker of the House., member representing Ilaje 2 constituency, was sworn in by the clerk as the acting Speaker.
