President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday conveyed to the National Assembly his decision to decline assent to five bills. Concise News reports that the President made his decision known to the Senate via five letters which were read during plenary by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

2. Election: Okorocha Sues Inec Over Certificate

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) before a Federal High Court in Abuja. Concise News understands that Okorocha took the electoral body to court seeking an order to compell it to issue to him a certificate of return as the senator-elect for Imo West.

3. PDP, Atiku Suffering From Severe Post-Election Depression – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is suffering from post-election depression and hallucination over the opposition party’s consistent claim that it won the last presidential election. Concise News reports that the ruling party says this in a statement by its publicity secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Wednesday while reacting to the claim by the PDP.

In other Nigerian newspapers headlines, a former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday faulted a claim by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) that it pays him an annual allowance for his role as a facilitator of the university. Earlier, Concise News reported that the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Abdalla Adamu, revealed Obasanjo was being paid N40,000 annually as an allowance for being a facilitator with the institution.

6. ‘I Speak With Authority, APC Rigged Buhari In’ – Buba Galadima

A spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Buba Galadima, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the military to intimidate voters and rig the just concluded general elections. Galadima, said the events in Rivers State were evidence of the intimidation.

7. Inec Challenges Court Order Stopping Collation Of Bauchi Gov’ship Election Result

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) has challenged the court order stopping the collation and announcement of the Bauchi State governorship election result. This comes barely 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja, restrained the electoral body from proceeding with the poll in the state.

8. Benue: Inec Speaks On Postponing Governorship Election

The Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner (Rec), Nentawe Yilwatda, has allayed fears that the supplementary election will not hold on Saturday. Concise News understands that Benue, Kano, and some other states will have supplementary elections as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec).

9. Unregistered Schools In Trouble! Lagos Govt Warns

The Lagos State Ministry of Education on Wednesday warned owners of unregistered private schools operating in the state to regularise their documents immediately or face sanction.
