The Nigerian contingent to the London 2017 IAAF Championship is yet to win a medal as the event draws to a close today.

With the last day of the competition at hand, Nigeria’s hopes of a podium finish rest solely on the shoulders of the women 4x400m quartet of Patience Okon-George, Yinka Ajayi, Emerald Egwim and Glory Onome.

The country’s athletes have fallen short at key moments with Blessing Okagbare unable to beat the competition in the long jump and the sprints. The female 4x100m team, a probable medal-finishing quartet, did not turn up on the track because there were not enough runners to form a team.
