Niger Govt Doles Out N10m To Tornadoes

The Niger state Government on Thursday doled out N10 million to players of Niger Tornadoes after the side finished second at the 2017 Aiteo Cup.

Tornadoes lost the game 3-2 via penalty in the final against Akwa United on 15 October in Lagos.

While making the announcement in Minna, the state Governor, Abubakar Bello, lauded the team for their display in the competition, adding that there must be winners and losers.

“In every game, there is always a winner and a loser, to us here, you are the winners and you should know that you have moved the state football industry forward,” the governor said.

“The strength of Niger Tornadoes is now known all over the world and we will continue to support you in areas that will move the club forward. Niger Tornadoes is a brand name and all of you have turned out to be good ambassadors of the state.”

Governor Bello further charged the team to work harder in the coming season and announced an increase in the team’s monthly grant from N7m to N10m.

He also promised the team a new bus as well as other pressing needs as they prepare for  next season’s campaign.
