    Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has said more needs to be done following the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari. Kyari was suspended by the Inspector-General of Police following an FBI affidavit that indicted him in the fraud case against Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi. He had allegedly helped Hushpuppi to arrested a fellow who tried to block a scam Hushpuppi was perpetrating against a businessman from Qatar. Reacting to his suspension, Omokri said, “The suspension of Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari, by the IG of Police is a good first step. More needs to be done. “The investigation needs to be thorough and devoid of ethnic and religious considerations. This is beyond Kyari. This is about Nigeria’s image.”

    There’s Urgent Need To Rid Nigeria Of Drug Scourge – Marwa

    The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, has called on all leaders and stakeholders across the country to see the urgent need to rid Nigeria of drug scourge. Marwa made the call at a public presentation of a book entitled: “Victory in Defeat” written by retired Brig.-Gen. Larinde Laoye on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State. In a statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi in Abuja, Marwa said that leaders at all levels must attach some urgency to the need to rid the society of the drug menace. Marwa said that it had become neccessary for NDLEA to advocate a new social order where drug test became the norm for couples as part of the wedding rites. He said that drug test for students as a continuous process starting from admission into tertiary institutions was not excluded. This, he said, included government employees as part of the employment process and periodic validation of their employment.     Police Kill Two Armed Bandits In Imo

    Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have killed two armed bandits in the Njaba Local Government Area of the state on Saturday. This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abutu Yaro, in a statement issued by the command’s Spokesman, CSP Mike Abattam. An AK47 rifle and an operational vehicle were recovered from the bandits during the crossfire with police.     The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has warned that from 2022 it will no longer tolerate late registration for its West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, Mr Patrick Areghan, told NAN. This is as he advised schools to respect deadlines issued by the Council, warning that henceforth there will be no going back on deadlines set by the council for registration of school candidates. ”Late registration makes preparations very cumbersome. On the contrary, we do not experience the same during examinations for private candidates. ”This year, we opened our portal for registration of candidates on Feb. 5, to close on May 16; that is a three-month interval. ”We later extended it to May 31, but due to activities of defaulters, we kept shifting the goalpost until the end of June.     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said it has been contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, on DCP Abba Kyari.     A warrant of arrest has been issued for Nigeria’s police commissioner Abba Kyari, Peoples Gazette can report based on court documents. Otis Wright of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to track down Mr Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas, a notorious Nigerian fraudster. Mr Abbas was arrested in Dubai last June and he pleaded guilty to fraud in the U.S. this week. The FBI said Messrs Abbas and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money. Mr Kyari was also indicted of receiving bribes from Mr Abbas to arrest a member of the syndicate in Nigeria. American prosecutors first sought a court warrant to arrest Mr Kyari on February 12, 2021, according to court documents seen by The Gazette. Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.     Marshal Abubakar, the Counsel to the defendants Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife, has said their trial has come to end as the Kaduna State High Court found them not guilty of the alleged crime, filed against them by the Kaduna State Government.
