1. Why We Stormed Nnamdi Kanu’s Home – Int’l Body

An African-led international non-governmental human rights group, Alliances for Africa (AfA), has stormed the residence of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Concise News understands.

This news medium learned that AfA stormed the place earlier in the week to take data of the Nigerian Military invasion of the residence of the pro-Biafra leader.

According to the leader of the visiting team, Chidire Anonye, they were in the home of the Kanus to take raw data on the military invasion for analysis.

2. Why Nnamdi Azikiwe, Fani-Kayode Were Not Killed During 1966 Coup – Ex-Biafra Soldier

A Nigerian military officer of the Yoruba race, retired Lt. Fola Oyewole, who fought on the side of Biafra during the civil war, has explained why Nnamdi Azikwe and Remi Fani-Kayode were not assassinated during the 1966 coup. Remi Fani-Kayode is the father of former aviation minister and chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Femi Fani-Kayode. Concise News reports that Oyewole, was, because of the first coup 50 years ago, imprisoned in Lagos and in Enugu but was released by Lt Col Odumegwu Ojukwu. There has been a political tilt on how the coup was carried out and it has been generating controversy till date. Critics say the coup was lopsided. For instance, Ladoke Akintola was killed in the West, when Azikiwe and Mike Okpara “were not around,” making some to believe that it was an ‘Igbo coup.’ The argument was that Zik and other Igbo leaders got wind of what was going to happen and left. Leaders from other parts were killed and the Igbo leaders were said to have been allowed to escape. But explaining this in an interview with The News, Oyewole said, “I wouldn’t subscribe to that argument. “They said Zik was ill, he was going for treatment and then he left the country and at the time of the coup, he wasn’t there, whether he got wind or he didn’t get wind of it, I would not know. “Those who planned the coup must have taken a decision but it does appear that it was not in totality deliberate. “I give you a specific example, the signal commencing the action in Enugu was delivered that morning and it did say: ‘Arrest, secure the key points and wait for further instructions.’ “And if you are in doubt, that was why Fani Kayode was arrested in Ibadan and brought down to Lagos, they wanted to kill him but what stopped them from killing him in his house in Ibadan was because of the instructions (waiting for further instructions) and he was brought down to Lagos.”

3. Umahi, Anambra Govt, Others Denounce IPOB Sit-At-Home Order

The sit-at-home directive by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has not gone down well with some stakeholders in the South East region who have frowned at the order.

According to IPOB, the order, scheduled for May 30, was to mourn its members, who were allegedly killed by agents of the Federal Government on the day two years ago.

Reacting to this development, the Anambra State Government described the sit-at-home order as “anarchical”.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, in an interview with Punch said the state would not tolerate such action.

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, however, said IPOB had no constitutional right to declare such order.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Uzor, the governor noted that the only people that would obey the sit-at-home order were members of IPOB, who were adherents of the tenets and principles of the group.

4. What IPOB Told Umahi, Nwodo For Opposing Sit-At-Home Order

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has questioned the position of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi and the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo on the proposed sit-at-home protest declared by the group.

IPOB had earlier announced it will hold this year’s sit-at-home protest to honour those killed during the civil war on the 30th of May 2019.

But Umahi and Nwodo swiftly dissociated their state and group respectively from the announcement.

Reacting to the duo’s opposition to the sit-at-home protest, the Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful in a press release in Awka on Sunday, accused the two leaders of working to sabotage the exercise.
