Deadly terror group ISIS has warned of plans to attack Argentina superstar Lionel Messi during the World Cup in Russia.

ISIS also plans to attack other players, including Nigerians, in the competition.

The group made known its intent in posters depicting the execution of the Barcelona forward.

Messi is shown in an orange jumpsuit, kneeling before a masked jihadist near the centre circle of a packed stadium in Vladimir Putin’s country.

In the foreground, a bearded extremist can be seen with a suicide bomb connected to a trigger button. A caption urges fanatics to be ”ready and steady for the season of hunting is soon.”

Separate propaganda images show a militant examining a screen showing World Cup venues – dubbed ‘targets’ for lone-wolf jihadists.

A third shows a militant carrying a bomb on to a football field through flames while a final poster simply says ”kill them all.”

The mocked-up image are the latest in a near constant stream of ISIS threats against the World Cup in recent weeks.

In May, fanatics threatened to behead both Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in posters.
