Former Minster of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, has disclosed that the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, wanted ex-Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to be vice president and not Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
Fani-Kayode was reacting to a book writing by the Chairman of ThisDay Editorial Board, where he quoted the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, as saying Governor El-Rufai wanted Tunde Bakare to be President Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 general election.
The former minister revealed this on his Facebook page on Thursday.
”The Muslim/Muslim ticket was their plan all along and I was the first to expose and oppose it when I was in APC. That is why I left them.
”OBJ opposed it too. Saraki did so behind the scenes. El Rufai did NOT oppose a Muslim Muslim ticket. It is just that he didn’t want Tinubu. He wanted Fashola.
”I discussed this matter deeply with every single name that I mentioned here when I was with them. The whole thing sickened me,” he wrote.
