Gov El-Rufai Reveals Why He Chose Fellow Muslim As Running Mate
Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state has said that he chose Dr. Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate for the 2019 general election because of her competence and performance.
El-rufai was reacting to the condemnation, which followed his choice of a Muslim as a running mate in a multi-religious and a multi-ethnic state like Kaduna.
Receiving in audience the people of Sanga, which houses the hometown of his running mate, the governor said that under his administration, there was no room for religious or sentiments in deciding who to appoint into any office in the state.
He said, “Muslim-Muslim ticket is not a religious ticket but a competent and performance ticket.”
He also said, “The people that have criticised me most on this are people who never voted me in the first place. So, are they not supposed to be celebrating it?
“In their own opinion, I have made a wrong choice. Then, why are they mourning?”
