Bauchi Gov. Hasn’t Fulfilled Promises – Sen Wakili

Governor Mohammed Abubakar

Senator Ali Wakili (APC-Bauchi South) has said Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state has not fulfilled the promises he made during the 2015 electioneering campaign.

The party chieftain added that there was still a long way to go in reconciling aggrieved chieftains of the party in Bauchi.

“As an individual, and I’m sure it’s the same with almost all my colleagues in the National Assembly and other party leaders that seem to have differences with the governor, it’s not an issue of a personal thing,” Wakili said.

“It’s an issue of principle and the promises we made to our people. While we were campaigning with the governor, we agreed on the issue of democratic local government system. We’re still insisting we must have elections; he can have his way as chief executive of the state by putting those he wants to put through the electoral system, at least we would satisfy our conscience.”

Speaking further, Wakili alleged that the governor had refused to allow the local governments access their statutory allocations from the federal government.

He said the shortcomings of the previous administration in the state were fast repeating themselves under the watchful eyes of Abubakar.
