The Nigerian Army and the European Union (EU) are partnering to end the recurrent farmers and herdsmen clashes in the country.

This commitment to tackling the issue came during the visit of the European Union (EU) delegation to the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja recently.

According to the statement released by the Army on Saturday, the EU is keen on partnerships ahead of the 2019 elections and securing the Niger Delta region.

“This organisation will partner the army in the provision of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets to combat the Boko Haram terrorists and other criminal gangs,” said the EU Ambassador to Nigeria Ketil Karlsen.

On their part, the Army added that, “The ambassador also sought clarifications on the farmers/herders clashes, the Nigerian Army’s role in elections, and security in the Niger Delta.
