Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, has blamed an injury for the delayed return of former captain Vincent Enyeama to the team.
Rohr expressed his readiness to have the goalkeeper back in the fold but those plans are on hold till Enyeama heals from a meniscus injury he currently has.
He made this disclosure on Wednesday during the pre-game conference ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifying game against Cameroon.
He said: “I spoke with Enyeama and he’s ready to come back.
“The past is in the past and we don’t want to bring old issues up again.
“He gave no condition to return but he has to get well from his injury before we see him in the national team.”
He touched on the current unemployed status of the goalkeeper. He expressed hope it would be rectified soon.
“He needs a new club and I hope he gets one by the next transfer window. Lille have signed two new goalkeepers, so he cannot continue with them.”
Enyeama announced his retirement from international football in 2016 after falling out with the then national team manager, Sunday Oliseh.
