As election results for the 2019 general elections trickle in, former Governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has beaten Senator Mao Ohabunwa to clinch the seat for Abia North Senatorial District.
Concise News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed late on Sunday that Kalu who ran under the All Progressives Congress (APC), beat Ohabunwa, the incumbent for the district, who contested under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The result was announced by Dr Charles Anumudu, the Returning Officer, who noted that Kalu polled 31,203 votes as against Ohabunwa’s 20,801 votes.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third amongst others who contested the senatorial position.
Meanwhile, Concise News gathered that Senator Ohabunwa is calling for the cancellation of the Abia North elections result as he is averse to the process that produced Dr Kalu as winner.
