Eguavoen Throws In The Towel At Sunshine Stars

The coach of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, Augustin Eguavoen, has resigned as the coach of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side following a string of poor performances,
Under the former Super Eagles coach, the Akure-based side played five games, recording just two wins and three losses.
They beat Rangers International of Enugu 2-0, lost 0-1 to Lobi Stars of Makurdi, defeated Enyimba International of Aba 1-0, and also lost 0-1 to 3SC of Ibadan and 1-2 to Plateau United of Jos.
Good contribution
Confirming his resignation, the club via its Twitter account thanked the former Eagles defender for his contribution to the club during his stay.
The resignation comes after the club denied the report two days ago.

Replacement
Meanwhile, the club’s former assistant coach, Akin Olowookere, will take over as the Interim Head Coach.
“In view of this development, Sunshine Stars FC Management has appointed the club’s former assistant coach, Akin Olowookere, as the Interim Head Coach.
“The former junior international will be assisted by Coach Ogunderu Boye.
Sunshine Stars currently occupies the 17th position on the NPFL table, with goal difference separating them from the relegation zone.
