D’Tigresses Land In Spain With Mali Win
Nigeria’s D’Tigresses have earned a berth at next year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain.
They booked their place at the tournament after edging hosts Mali 48-47 in a nerve-shredding #AfroBasket semi-final duel on Saturday in Bamako.
The first quarter of the game ended 10-7 to the Nigerians, a lead that was extended in the second quarter with a 13-5 lead to end the first half of the game at 23-12.
The Malians came back stronger in the third quarter winning it 17-16 before a blistering fourth quarter gave them an 18-9 points victory. However, this was not enough as D’Tigresses did enough to hold on to the lead and qualify for the final.
The Nigerian ladies would face either one of Senegal or Mozambique in the final on Sunday.
