The main rival of Shina Peller in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries conducted in October last year, Yemi Yaqub Olaaje, has spoken glowingly about the man who will be representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa and Kajola federal constituency at the 9th Assembly.

Concise News reports that Peller – the son of the late popular magician, Professor Peller and CEO of the popular Club Quilox – coasted to victory against aspirants like Najeemdeen Oyedeji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olasupo Abiodun of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the poll last Saturday.

Following the businessman’s win, Olaaje, a stalwart of the APC in Oke-Ogun speaks exclusively to Concise News and stressed the importance of Peller winning the constituency.

“First of all, let me say congratulations to him. His victory is very important because it was keenly contested. Peller winning shows that the APC is still the main party in our constituency,” Olaaje says.

On his alliance with Shina Peller

“I have a cordial relationship with him. A lot of flag is flown at the Olympics, but only one winner emerges. I have conceded to him at the Primaries. Thereafter, we had pleasant discussions with Saturday’s poll in sight, which thankfully he won. Since I have made the pledge to him to work together to deliver our constituency to him and take our people to greater heights, I have kept to my promise.

“We worked relentlessly towards ensuring he comes out victorious. I believe now that he has won the election, we will still maintain that positive relationship.”

He continues:

“For him to be declared the winner in our constituency, it is good news for Oke-Ogun at large. We share the same vision.

“He is not into politics because of money. He actually is in the political space to serve – which is my philosophy too. I saw that in him and decided to support him in the last election.

“It is something of pride to us at APC; it is something of pride to us at Oke-Ogun generally. And I believe if we have the likes of him in the system, politics of Oke-Ogun will change for better,” Olaaje submits.

Concise News reports that there was wild jubilation at the collation centre after Adeniyi Olatunbosun, the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Peller as the winner on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state lost in his bid to seek election into the Nigerian senate.
