COVID-19: Guardiola Fumes At Criticism Of Goal Celebrations In Football

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has defended his players for disregarding social distancing during their goal celebration when they recorded a 1-0 win on Wednesday.

A British parliament lawmaker had criticised footballers for disregarding social distancing during goal celebrations.

Reacting to the criticism against goal celebrations in football amid the second wave of COVID-19, Guardiola said maintaining social distancing after a goal is weird.

“We are tested maybe five or six times in the last 10 days,” he said at his post-match press conference.

“Everyone is negative. In the real moment of joy, in the moment, to say the players don’t hug and celebrate together, it is instinct and reaction. It is difficult.

“The moment you score a goal and one guy runs and the others don’t go to celebrate with him, it is weird and uncomfortable.”
