Crime: Man To Serve 60 Days In Jail For Stealing Bricks

A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old labourer, Elisha Julius, to two months in prison for stealing bricks worth N60,000.

Julius, a resident of Kado Bimko Village, Abuja, was convicted after he pleaded guilty for theft and begged for leniency.

The Area Court judge, Sadiq Abubakar, gave the convict an option to pay N6, 000 as fine.

And he warned him to desist from crime after serving his sentence.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, told the court that one Fonmilato Ominkule of Kado Bimko Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on October 4.

Zannah said sometime in September 2016, the convict went to the complainant’s block industry and stole 400 blocks value N600, 000.

He said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
