President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Bauchi state on Thursday on a condolence visit after windstorm and fire caused havoc in two days in the Northeast state.

Concise News understands that the President’s aircraft touched down at the Sir. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport at about 9:20 am.

The commander in chief, as expected, was welcomed to the state by Governor Muhammed Abubakar.

Also at the airport to welcome Buhari was the Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Kawuwa Damina.

Eight persons were confirmed dead while 120 others sustained various degrees of injury following the windstorm which lasted for over an hour on Saturday.

Also, an estimated 1,500 buildings were destroyed, majority of which occurred in the state capital, Bauchi.

And barely 24 hours later, another disaster struck the state.

The Azare central market in Katagum area was on Sunday struck by a fire outbreak with a large portion of the market destroyed.

It was learned that shops numbering close to 800 were destroyed.
