Biafra: How Buhari’s Presidency Confirmed Being ‘Backbone Of Jihadist’ – Group

A group, the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) on Thursday lampooned the presidency for comparing Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) with the Igbo and Yoruba socio-political organisations, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Afenifere.

According to BNYL, the comparison was an indication that the presidency was the “backbone of Jihadists activities” in the country.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu had said that the presidency would continue to engage groups such as the Miyetti Allah, Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndigbo in dialogue as part of the search for solutions and peace in the country.

However, BYNL said it was an insult to compare an alleged terrorist organisation with ethnic-based organisations.

In a statement signed by its Acting National Leader, Ebuta Victor Takon, BNYL said: “We have wondered why a President would welcome a sub terrorist group like Miyetti Allah who threatened so many attacks before the Fulani carried out their evil killings.

“Everyone knows MACBAN is behind Fulani killings, if the Presidency can make such utterances then they have proven to be the backbone of the jihadists activities in other parts of the country.”

Takon maintained that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo was a well-respected body as well as every ethnic-based group in South-South like the Ijaw Youth Council, Uhrobo Progressive Union.

“Whoever compares MACBAN to these Organizations should be examined closely, that person might be having mental disorder either as a result of old age or the usual mental sickness,” he said.

BNYL wondered why the presidency would relegate the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and position MACBAN as the mouthpiece of the North.
