Saudi Arabia on Saturday intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile northeast of the capital Riyadh, state media reported.

“The missile was of limited size (and) no injuries or damage” were reported, state news channel Al-Ekhbariya said.

The missile is said to have emanated from Yemen.

The Yemeni Air Force has accepted responsibility for the missile launch. The missile’s target was the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, according to Yemen’s Houthi-controlled Defense Ministry.

This might be in retaliation to Saturday’s Saudi-led military air strike that hit a Yemeni market.

More details later.
